Fashion Events of The Year

Fashion world is always full of fashion shows and events. However, not every event is created equal. The most prominent ones are very exclusive with special access only for high-end designers and celebrity-alike.

Every fashionista in the world looks forward to fashion weeks. “Big Four” fashion weeks are held bi-annually in Paris, London, New York and Milan.Carrie-Bradshaw-Fashion-Week-640x813.jpg

1. New York Fashion Week:  First held in 1943, the New York Fashion Week was the first  ever of its kind organised anywhere in the world. It was initiated to highlight American fashion which was historically overshadowed by French fashion. It is held biannually- in February and September. American designers such as Marc Jacobs, Micheal Kors, Calvin Klein, Vera Wang, Ralph Lauren and others, showcase their collections along with some European designers every year. Industry legends Anna Wintour and Andre Leon Tally also grace fashion week with their presence and share their top highlights.

2. Paris Fashion Week:  One of the most celebrated fashion shows, Paris fashion week showcases dream Ready-To-Wear collections of the most elaborate designers, such as Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Balmain, Valentino, Givenchy and other big names First held in 1945, Paris Fashion Week has since been the fashion event of the year and is also held bi-annually. Biggest fashion editors and celebrities can always be found at the front rows.

3. Milan Fashion Week: Established in 1958, Milan Fashion Week is mostly about women’s fashion, with the most important events being Women’s ready-To-Wear and Milano Moda Donna.  A-listers Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana, Prada, Roberto Cavalli, Moschino, Versace and  Marni and other prestigious names in the industry are shown during the week.

4. London Fashion Week: Organized by the British Fashion Council in 1984, London Fashion Week includes names as Burberry, Mulberry, Tom Ford, Erdem, etc. in 2012, London Fashion Week becane the first among “Big Four” to offer opportunity to  broadcast shows live on internet to its designers.

There are also fashion weeks organized in other cities of the world, such as Tokyo Fashion Week, Australian Fashion Week, Berlin Fashion Week, etc.

 

CFDA fashion awards: Also known as the Fashion Industry Oscars,  the Council of Fashion Designers of America was created in 1962 the mission of which is to strengthen the impact of American fashion in global economy. Its membership consists of more than 500 of American designers, with designers Micheal Kors and Vera Wang being on its board. This annual event recognizes individuals in the American Fashion Industry with awards for design excellence and extraordinary accomplishments in journalism and creative vision, but the highlight of  is of course the red carpet.  The red carpet is where celebrities and industry people dress to impress and represents a parade of equally head-turning beauty looks.

Haute Couture Fashion Week: Haute Couture Fashion Week is the synonym of creativity, aspiration and inspiration and is an annual hit in the fashion world. During the Haute Couture week, a select group of elite designers team up with the finest craftsmen in Paris to produce one of a kind outfits that are unattainable and affordable only to a very limited number of people. Chanel, Valentino, Eliee Saab, Jean Paul Gauthier are some of the few members of this luxury designers.
